Generous members of the CMC Communtiy at UTB spent stayed up all night the evening of Thanksgiving in order to cook 10 Thanksgiving meals for those who are poor. The cooked meals of a turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, and stuffing were a great gift to families who live in difficult conditions- without stoves or kitchens.
"You don't know how much poverty is out there... most of the homes were hidden in the back of houses. Most people probably think that the trailers or 'casitas' are the storage room for the home, but people are living there" said, Nancy. "It was definitely worth cooking all night long...people were really happy for the thanksgiving meal."
I realized that this wonderful community put not only their precious time, but their heart into preparing these meals. Although many of the families didn't know how to express their gratitude, I am sure that many said a prayer of thanks to God for the strangers who appeared at their homes with a meal in a time of need.
